Who are we
Sous Les Étoiles — “Under The Stars” — is an award-winning family-run campsite in the village of Saint-Martin-des-Besaces, Calvados. Surrounded by the beautiful Normandy countryside, we offer a peaceful base for exploring the D-Day beaches, historic towns, local markets, and the region’s famous cheeses, cider, and Calvados.
Since taking over the campsite in 2019, we have worked to create a welcoming and relaxing environment for campers travelling with tents, caravans, motorhomes, or bicycles. Whether you are staying for a night or a longer holiday, we look forward to welcoming you beneath the Normandy stars.
Our achievements
Since our arrival here at the campsite in 2019, we have not stopped with the updates and new areas.
Sanitary Facilities
Our top priority was a completely new shower and toilet area, and we’re already planning another makeover for 2027 to keep improving comfort and convenience for our guests.
Bar Renovation
The old bar had become very tired and was in desperate need of a complete rebuild, so we stripped it down and rebuilt it to create a fresh, welcoming space for our guests.
Games Room update
The old room, once covered with a red parachute, needed a completely fresh look. We’ve updated it to create a fun, inviting space for guests of all ages.
Our Pitches
Choose the perfect spot for your camping holiday from our six distinct zones, each offering its own unique charm and comfort.
Zone V – Hiker & Cyclist Pitch
High season €15A relaxed, cosy pitch reserved exclusively for cyclists and walkers arriving on foot or by bicycle. Ideal for small tents, with no cars or motorbikes. Each pitch averages 25 m², offering a quiet, natural space to rest, recharge, and ready yourself for the next day’s journey.

Zone A – Campervans, Cars or Motorcycles
High season €25Campervans (6m max), cars or motorcycles with a tent on grass pitches, with optional 6-amp electric hook-up. Water and drainage nearby.

Zone E – Economy Pitches
High season €25A great choice for budget-friendly stays! Suitable for tents, caravans, or motorhomes (up to 8 m). Optional 6-amp electric hook-up available, with water and drainage points nearby.
Pitch numbers E1 to E5
Zone B – Private Serviced Pitch
High season €33A spacious and secluded grass pitch with ample room for tents, vehicles, caravans, or motorhomes (up to 9 metres). Each pitch offers optional 10-amp electric hook-up, with water and drainage available directly on-site. A minimum stay of 2 nights applies from May through the end of August.

Zone C – Grand Serviced Pitch
High season €35These generous pitches are designed for single or twin-axle caravans and longer motorhomes, providing ample space to relax and enjoy your stay. Optional 10-amp electric hook-up is available for added convenience.

Zone D – Premium Extra-Large
High season €40Our largest and most comfortable option, perfect for extra space and convenience. Suitable for caravans or motorhomes. Optional 16A electric hook-up, plus water and drainage on your pitch. Minimum stay 3 nights (single or double axles).

Le Cowshed Bar & Grill
Snacks and meals served from The Cowshed. Long ago, when the campsite was a working farm, this kitchen was a milking shed. Now fully converted, it offers our seasonal tasty menu.

A very special place. Spent total of 15 nights here in August across two visits with 3 y-o and 2 dogs. Beautiful location and exceptionally well managed site by friendly and hospitable hosts and team. Sanitary facilities beat some 4* hotels. Séjour incroyable Camping très propre et calme, parfait pour se détendre. Le personnel est vraiment gentil et toujours prêt à rendre service. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié que ce soit un camping uniquement avec des emplacements, sans mobil-homes, ce qui change et apporte beaucoup de charme.
